Ocean Life Necklaces Were Made For Summer
Critter jewelry is still very popular, and I love to wear my owls and frogs. But, when summer comes, my favorite necklaces and pendants are teeming with sea life!
Fish, seahorses, starfish, sea shells, sea turtles.… I can’t get enough. Big and bold or small and dainty, nothing embodies summer like them!
The best thing about these aquatic beauties is you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a nice little collection of all members of the ocean floating around your neck. Places like Amazon, Forever 21, ebay, Charlotte Russe and Francesca’s have tons of sea life jewelry (not just necklaces that I’m focusing on here) at incredibly affordable prices.… sometimes only a few dollars! Then, there is one designer who really excels is sea life jewelry, and you’ll see a couple of her creations below… Betsey Johnson.
I’m just posting a tiny sample of what you can find out there, but it gives you a great idea of how you can add some fishy style to your outfits. You can mix and match and layer your favorites for a truly personalized look.
I have several long chains (like 24–36 inch) that I like to wear my bigger pendants on, especially my sea horses and sea turtles. One big statement pendant, simple earrings, a great ring, and I’m good to go. I love to wear them when I have a cute summer cami and denim shorts on. Nothing says beach more than that!
If you have some cute sea life pins, they also make great pendants OR hair clips! A sparkling crystal starfish looks adorable pinned in a side pony or bun!
I’m not a matchy-matchy person, so my other jewelry I wear with these (like a bracelet or earrings) are almost never the same thing. I don’t wear a sea turtle pendant AND earrings, but I do coordinate with maybe a sea shell or starfish accented bracelet sometimes. This type of jewelry was made to mix and match, so go for it. The only time I tend to match a little more is with my starfish jewelry… For some reason that doesn’t get to be too much for my taste.
